Bangladesh won Bronze Medal in World Robot Olympiad 2022

The Bangladesh team, that participated directly for the first time in the World Robot Olympiad 2022 which is one of the most prestigious robotics competitions held in Germany, was welcomed with flowers. Today they were felicitated in a reception organized at the Daffodil Education Network Building in the capital's 71 auditorium and were also handed over certificates of World Robot Olympiad. In the Future Engineers category of this international competition, Team Lazy-Go won the bronze medal by securing the third position. On the other hand, in the Future Innovators category, Robinium Bangladesh secured the eighth position. About 1,300 competitors from 375 teams from 73 countries around the world participated in this international competition. In the three-day 24th edition of the Olympiad held in Dortmund, Germany, a total of four contestants from two teams of the country took part in the Olympiad. Munir Hasan, President of World Robot Olympiad - Bangladesh and General Secretary of Bangladesh Open Source Network, being present at the reception, greeted everyone and said that in 2020, we became a member of World Robot Olympiad. Bangladesh is the 25th Asian member and 84th global member of WRO. The service competition was not held. In 2021, Bangladesh participated in the online event for the first time. For the first time participating, Bangladesh has secured the tenth place. 200 teams from 66 countries around the world participated in it. Achieving bronze medal in this year's event is a gift for our country. Congratulating the winners, Managing Director of Computer Services Limited, Mamluk Chhabir Ahmad said, JRC board designed by Bangladesh is designed keeping future robotics and IOT in mind and the board does not require separate WiFi and Bluetooth for communication. By using this board named after late Professor Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, the prominent educationist of the country, Bangladesh announced its position to the whole world. Monir Hossain, founder of Creative IT Institute, sponsor of the Olympiad, congratulated the winners and said, "We are proud to be a part of Bangladesh's achievement by being part of this event. He believes that this achievement will play a big role in making the next generation more efficient and timely." Besides, Dhaka University Institute of Information Technology Professor Dr. BM Mainul Hossain congratulated the parents of the winners. Apart from this, World Robot Olympiad-Bangladesh team leader Redwan Ferdous and deputy team leader Maherul Azam Qureshi thanked everyone. He also thanked the German diaspora for their hospitality and assistance. At this time, the winners were given a set of Arduino boards by Code 9. Team Lazy-Go members participating from Bangladesh are Iqbal Samin Prithul from Information and Communication Engineering Department of Bangladesh University of Professionals and Tausif Samin from Software Engineering Department of Islamic University of Technology. And Team Robiniam Bangladesh consisted of Israfil Shaheen Aranya, a secondary examinee of Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur and Mir Muhammad Abidul Haque, a ninth grade student of Manipur High School and College. Redwan Ferdous was the team leader and Maherul Azam Qureshi was the deputy team leader of the participating teams from Bangladesh. It is to be noted that earlier in the last month of August, the 'World Robot Olympiad 2022 - Bangladesh's National Episode' was held at the Ahsanullah Science and Technology University in the capital. A two-day international team selection camp was held with the winners at the national level. Based on the success and performance of this camp, the team representing Bangladesh in 'World Robot Olympiad 2022' was selected.
